Update Apr-2022: Have been visiting 2 Chefs Eating Place / Two Chefs Eating Place sporadically over the last 11 years, and they're still going strong. In fact, these days, 2 Chefs Eating Place / Two Chefs Eating Place is even more popular than before, with crowds packing the place most evenings.
Ambience at 2 Chefs Eating Place / Two Chefs Eating Place is as lively and noisy as ever, with large groups and families occupying the expanded floor space. I like that they have bright lights illuminating the entire restaurant / coffee shop, and the tables are laid out in a more orderly fashion now. The queues are just as long, but more organised, and now move relatively quickly, such that waiting times usually average 30 minutes or less.
Service at 2 Chefs Eating Place / Two Chefs Eating Place is still as brusque and efficient as ever, though longer queues now mean a longer wait for food. Staff are quick to recommend their signature dishes, and the kitchen churns out dish after dish quickly, even during peak periods, although the average wait even after being seated is around 20 minutes or so.
Food at 2 Chefs Eating Place / Two Chefs Eating Place still retains its consistently high quality and delicious tastes, remaining a good Chinese Zi Char of choice. Average prices have risen over the years, but still remain cheap and affordable, budget about SGD $15 per person. Portions sizes are usually nicely sized for sharing. Each dish packs a lot of flavour, and I generally don't find much to complain about when dining here!

A straightforward bowl of White Rice (SGD $0.50). The white rice is sticky and fluffy soft moist, with mild grainy sweet flavour. Best paired with dishes that are heavy on gravy. Worth ordering!

The Mixed Seafood Soup (SGD $5 / $8 / $12) feels light and healthy. The seafood soup / broth is gently sweet savoury in taste, filled with cabbage, carrots, squid, deshelled prawns / shrimp, sliced mackeral fish, and button mushrooms, all of which are tender in texture. The ingredients are likewise gently sweet savoury in taste, and so fresh. Worth ordering!

Loved the clean-tasting Stir-Fried Broccoli (SGD $8 / $12 / $16). The crunchy broccoli florets are tossed with minced garlic, lending a fragrant smoky spice note to the natural vegetal sweet flavour of the broccoli. Good!

The Stir-Fried Yam Fingers (SGD $8 / $12 / $16) are as good as always. The thick chunky yam / taro fingers are tossed with crisp red onions and leeks, along with a secret marinade sauce. This results in the yam / taro fingers having a soft crunch to the exterior, and a tender soft bite to the interior, with bold vegetal earthy sweet savoury salty flavour. Highly recommended!

Loved the Butter Pork Ribs (SGD $10 / $14 / $18), which are as good as always. The tender chunky boneless pork ribs are tossed with curry leaves, butter, and carnation milk, imparting bold meaty milky sweet savoury salty spice flavour to the pork ribs. The sticky 'snow' coating is the reduced sauce, bright and milky sweet spice in taste, pairing well with white rice. Highly recommended!

The house signature Golden Bamboo Mushroom Beancurd (SGD $9 / $12 / $15) remains as good as always. The large silken tofu beancurd strips are tossed with minced pork and golden mushrooms in a thick gravy, imparting robust meaty salty savoury earthy flavours. Needs white rice to pair for a satisfying meal. Highly recommended!

The Fried Hor Fun (SGD $4 / $7 / $12) at 2 Chefs Eating Place / Two Chefs Eating Place is great because they've imparted the smoky wok hei / breath of the wok into the dish. The slippery wide flat rice noodles are tossed with crunchy chye sim / choy sum / Chinese flowering cabbage, tender sliced pork loin, wispy egg, tender sliced mackeral fish, and bouncy deshelled prawns / shrimp, all in a thick gloopy gravy with bold smoky sweet savoury salty earthy flavour. Update Jun-2012: It's been a long time since I last ate here... Finally visited 2 Chefs Eating Place again with all my classmates to celebrate graduation from University! This might well be the last time I'm seeing many of them... Even though we hope to keep in touch, the reality of life often gets in the way.
Still, the food at 2 Chefs Eating Place is as fantastic as ever. Even after all these years, they still manage to command a packed restaurant, which is a testament to the skill of the chefs here at 2 Chefs Eating Place.
