Established in May 2014 by Daniel Tay, the former founder of equally reowned pastry chain Bakerzin, Cat & The Fiddle is a story of one man's passion for cheesecakes. Selling mostly online and through pop-up stores, Cat & The Fiddle produces cheesecakes and nothing but dessert cheesecakes, though their strategy is to have varied, unique flavours, at prices that are 40% cheaper than elsewhere.
Ambience at Cat & The Fiddle is only at their headquarters, where there is a decent cafe setup admist their kitchen. Here, comfortable modern furniture and bright lights, along with a bookshelf, means you can chill quietly. The out-of-the-way location in an industrial area makes travelling here difficult though. Mostly, Cat & The Fiddle does delivery when your order.
Service at Cat & The Fiddle is largely limited to their delivery. And it's pretty efficient too, you can place orders, and expect to receive it within the same day. Even self-pickup is convenient, I managed to walk into the store without any advance order, and get my cheesecake within less than 30 minutes. Staff will helpfully advise or help with queries if you walk in, or if you call in.
Food at Cat & The Fiddle is all about American style dessert cheesecakes, with a varied menu of 16 different flavours. They offer both alcohol and non-alcohol versions. If a single flavour is not your thing, they have an assorted option, of 10 different flavours. I find their dessert cheesecakes to be very tasty and consistently well executed, and the portions are suitable for sharing. Prices are cheaper than elsewhere, budget SGD $5 per person for a slice, or SGD $50 for a whole cake.

The Fickle Feline 2.0 - Assorted Cheese Cake (SGD $48.90) features an assortment of 10 different, non-alcohol flavours. This colourful amalgamation of dessert cheesecakes is so pretty, and all of them taste so good. Highly recommended!
The 10 flavours include:
- Maneki Neko - This invigorating, vibrant, lively cheesecake features rich cream cheese, yuzu, mandarin orange, lemon zest, and lime leaves.
- The Modern Duke's Pudding - This fail-proof classic cheesecake features rich cream cheese, and crunchy Oreo chocolate and cream cookies.
- Over The Moon - This classic American / New York style cheesecake features rich cream cheese, enhanced with vanilla beans.
- Queen Of Hearts - A traditional cheesecake, a classic combination which features rich cream cheese and fruity sweet strawberry puree.
- Paws Of Fury - A unique Yuan Yang / coffee and tea blend, this double-decker cheesecake features rich cream cheese, three parts Arabica coffee, seven parts Ceylon tea with milk.
- Sweet And Smokey Taffy - This luscious, well balanced cheesecake features rich cream cheese, crunchy Oreo chocolate and cream cookies, and a layer of salted caramel.
- Red Riding Hood - This striking cheesecake features rich cream cheese, vanilla beans, and cocoa powder.
- Once In The Blue Moon - This fruity cheesecake is jam packed and pretty, features rich cream cheese, swirls of Canadian blueberries mousse, layered with Canadian blueberries puree.
- Apple Of My Eye - A stunning hybrid of apple crumble and cheesecake, combining 2 classic desserts, and features rich cream cheese, roasted biscuit crumbs, fresh seasonal apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Naughty And Nice - A harmonious blend of 2 desserts, cheesecake and chocolate cake, which features rich cream cheese, premium couverture chocolate mousse, chocolate sponge cake crumbs, and sparkling gold powder

Update Jul-2021: More than 4 years on, and Cat & The Fiddle is doing better than ever, with several physical stores across Singapore. While Cat & The Fiddle still specialises in delicious artisanal cheesecakes via delivery and pickup / takeaway orders, it's now even more convenient to visit any of their 7 stores.
The Jiggly Fluff (SGD $5.90) an Indonesian inspired cheesecake, made with rich cream cheese, butter sponge cake, whipped cream, and 3 servings of martabak cheese, over a graham cracker base. With a fluffy soft texture and bold savoury cheesy sweet grainy flavour, this triple fromage dessert is so magical and decadent. Good!

The Emperor's Romance (SGD $6.90) is a Chinese inspired cheesecake, named after Emperor Xuanzong, the seventh emperor of the Tang dynasty, who ordered his soldiers to transport lychees without rest to the Lady Yang Guifei (her favourite fruit) as a statement of his love and affection. This concoction of rich cream cheese, ladyfingers / sponge fingers, lychees, raspberries, and rose petals, over a graham cracker base, has an airy soft texture and enticing floral fruity sweet flavour. Like a dream. Good!

The Milo Dinosaur (SGD $5.90) is a Singaporean inspired cheesecake, a spin on the iconic beverage of the same name. With a graham cracker base, topped with rich cream cheese, chocolate sponge cake, milo chocolate malt powder, and whipped cream, this has a creamy soft texture and mild chocolatey sweet flavour. Not as rich as their other desserts, this is just alright. Could be improved.

The Sweet And Smokey Taffy (SGD $5.90) is a classic cheesecake, layered with salted caramel. The crumbly oreo chocolate cookie crumble base is lightly chocolatey sweet in flavour, while the cream cheese cheesecake itself is moist and soft and light with mild cheesy sweet flavour. The layer of thick sea salt infused caramel toffee on top lends most of the bold salty savoury sweet flavour. Good!

The Sicilian Wild Cats (SGD $6.90) actually isn't a cheesecake, rather, it's a classic tiramisu dessert shaped like a cake. With spongy airy espresso-soaked ladyfingers / sponge fingers layered between rich smooth mascarpone cheese blended with cream, spiked with espresso and dusted with cocoa powder, this delighted with its bold earthy milky grainy sweet flavour and notes of roasted coffee beans. Worth ordering!

The vibrant The Russian Whiskers (SGD $6.90) is so attractive and pretty. Beneath the mango glaze is a cheesecake of rich smooth mascarpone cheese blended with mango puree, with spongy airy ladyfingers / sponge fingers and juicy mango cubes interspersed within. Has a bright fruity grainy sweet flavour that is beautifully enticing, without being cloying. Good!
