Opened in December 2017, Noods & Meats has a concept that would pique anyone's interest. It's a halal heartland smokehouse, where Chef Firdauz Nasir, the former executive chef of Arteastiq and I Am Legend, food judge of MediaCorp's Juara Memasak Milenia, is serving restaurant-quality meats, slow smoked over almond wood, along with a host of other hand-made dishes.
Ambience at Noods & Meats is the typical heartland coffeeshop. Bright, harsh lighting illuminate the open, spacious area, with functional furniture tightly packed to maximise space. The atmosphere is bustling and crowded, but at least the ample seating is sufficiently sheltered from the elements.
Service at Noods & Meats is completely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection via buzzed number directly at the stall. That said, Chef Firdauz Nasir, and his staff, are decently engaging, and know their menu well, displaying good product knowledge, and will accede to minor change requests.
Food at Noods & Meats is best described as Modern Singaporean, with elements of Malaysian, Indonesian, and American cuisine. Portions are large for individuals, and prices are affordable, more expensive than most coffeeshop hawker Western food, but cheaper than a cafe. Budget about SGD $12 per person for a meal here.
The stars here are the 12-hour slow smoked meats (beef, duck, lamb), taking on a distinct fragrant aroma from the almond wood in the USD $400 meat smoker. Everything is hand-made, from the pasta noodles, to the coleslaw and potato salad, to the sauces. Overall impression; there are equal hits and misses, but for this price, it's still good value for money. Well worth a visit!

Loved the piping hot, Onion Rings (SGD $3), which were crisp outside and soft inside, with a golden brown crumb batter, and a light herbal sweet flavour from the white onions. Very satisfiying appetizer and sharing plate to start a meal. Good!

The Beef Jerky Noods (SGD $9.90) is a decent fusion bowl, meant to resemble a bowl of beef noodles. The spaghetti pasta noodles were a little too soft for my liking, but seems to suit the heartlanders here. Served with crunchy vegetal sweet baby corn, fragrant vegetal sweet baby asparagus shoots, and a fried sunny side up egg (in place of a sous vide egg).
The star is the 12-hour smoked, 100g of tender pulled beef brisket, which has a bold smoky flavour, complementing the deep, meaty savoury flavour of the pulled beef brisket meat. A thin, delicate 16-hour boiled beef soup / broth completes the dish, and this is where Chef's creativity is evident, as he's included a side of spicy sweet salty kecap manis, allowing you to enhance the light savoury flavour of the soup / broth as you wish. Overall decent dish, but I loved the pulled beef brisket; can see it going well with rice, or in a burger.

I feel conflicted about the Lambnara Noods (SGD $9.90). The spaghetti pasta noodles were a little too soft for my liking, but seems to suit the heartlanders here. The egg, instead of being soft-boiled and runny, was semi-firm and overcooked. The cream gravy was thin and slightly watery, instead of being rich and thick. While the cubes of lamb were nicely smoky savoury meaty in flavour, the portion was so little, it wasn't satisfiying at all. This dish frustrated me.

The Burnt Ends Buns (SGD $9.90) is a delicious modern burger. It starts with toasted, buttered, square burger buns, slightly crisp outside, fluffy soft inside. Sandwiched between; crunchy vegetal sweet baby asparagus shoots, along with 100g of 12-hour smoked pulled beef brisket, which has a robust smoky savoury flavour, and a tender, juicy texture. Served with crisp shoestring fries that have a nice salty potato flavour, along with a signature secret beef gravy. Will satisfy anyone's meat cravings. Highly recommended!

Wanted a light meal; and from prior experiences with coffeeshop Hawker Western Food and their fish burgers, I think it's fairly small, roughly the side of a MacDonald's burger. Was completely surprised when I received the Shiok Fillet Buns With French Fries (SGD $7.90). This monstrosity features a large, whole john dory fish fillet, with its tender, flaky, sweet savoury fish meat, coated in a crispy golden batter, served in a fluffy soft hotdog bun, with crunchy purple coleslaw of cabbage that has vegetal sweet sour notes. Accompanied with crisp shoestring fries that have a nice salty potato flavour, and liberal amounts of nacho cheese sauce and sweet chili sauce. Really delicious and value for money. Blew my mind. Highly recommended!

The Chope Chicken With Purple Coleslaw, Beans Stew, Mashed Potatoes (SGD $11.90) is a decently enjoyable dish. The best part; the succulent Chope Chicken, a large, tender, juicy, savoury salty sweet slab of chicken thigh confit. Super yummy. I liked the crunchy and refreshing Purple Coleslaw of cabbage as well, with its vegetal sweet sour notes. The Beans Stew features a mixed of tender baked beans and green peas, decently sweet savoury in flavour. However, the Mashed Potatoes had a weird sour flavour, despite the creamy smooth texture which was nice. An oily Fried Egg, their signature Beef Broth and Beef Gravy complete this dish.
