Founded in July 2014 from an idea to provide a halal cafe and restaurant with good coffee and good food, Royz Et Vous has grown into its own, and is now regarded as amongst the best muslim-owned cafes in Singapore one can dine at. With 2 outlets across Singapore, Royz Et Vous offers consistently tasty Modern European fusion cuisine, including halal-certified de-alcoholized wines. Update Jun-2019: The 2nd outlet ceased operations around the time of this post. As of now, there is only 1 outlet in Telok Ayer.
Ambience at Royz Et Vous is modern understated. The spacious area is warmly lit, and neatly lined with sturdy dark wooden furniture, making it decently comfortable. Shades of white and black lend a minimalist vibe, while the long bar counter holds the powerful espresso machine. There's soft background music, and overall, the place is unattractive but well suited for lingering meals.
Service at Royz Et Vous befits restaurant standards, and exceeds most cafes. Staff are attentive, and accord each table personalised attention. They display good product knowledge, able to offer recommendations, and will repeat orders for clarity. While it's difficult to attract their attention during peak periods, I note they are efficient at cleaning up when diners leave. Not easy, but keep up the good work.
Food at Royz Et Vous is Modern European, with fusion elements of Malay and Indonesian cuisine mixed in. Dishes are consistently well executed and tasty, made with fresh ingredients, and usually feature big, bold flavours. Portions are medium to large, and may be shared. Prices are slightly higher than most cafes, but cheaper than restaurants. Budget about SGD $30 per person for a meal here.
Held a work event here, and it was well received. We had a pleasant experience, though there were conflicting opinions on the quality of the dishes; some loved it, others didn't. The corporate package rate of SGD $35++ per person is also rather high, and I didn't quite feel like we got the best value for money.

The house Cold Brew White (SGD $8) and Cold Brew Black (SGD $8) has coffee beans steeped over hours, creating a rich, smooth and flavourful beverage. Served chilled, it has notes of roasted coffee beans, caramel, and toasted white bread, with low acidity and a balanced finish. Very drinkable.

The Hot Chocolate Orange (SGD $7) is a blend of West African Forastero cacoa beans and Trinatario cacoa beans, infused with orange. The result is a medium thick hot chocolate, with delightfully fruity citrusy chocolatey sweet notes. Good!

Known for being the premier non-alcoholic, halal-certified wine producer, the Carl Jung Non-Alcoholic Halal Merlot (SGD $12.90 per glass) is a fine example of the range. It has a deep violet ruby colour, with aromas and tastes of raspberry, blackberry, hazelnuts, and red grape. The body is smooth, velvety, and balanced, with a deep fruity earthy sweet flavour. The only way you'll know this is non-alcoholic is the lack of buzz you get from drinking it, otherwise, the taste is similar to red wine, setting it apart from other brands which taste like pure grape juice.

A large, generous basket of Sweet Potato Fries (SGD $11.90) for sharing between 4 - 6 people. These tempura battered sweet potato fries are medium cut, with a slightly crisp exterior, and a warm, soft, moist, fluffy interior. Has good sweet savoury flavour. Served with a side of sweet sriracha mayonnaise, which lends a lovely addictive sweet spicy flavour. Good!

The Calamari Frits (SGD $14.90) feature fresh calamari squid rings, with a bouncy chewy succulent texture, coated in a light tempura flour batter. Has a delicate salty savoury flavour. Served with a fresh, bright, home made, vegetal sweet marinara sauce.

Even without the optional minced meat add-on, the Nachos (SGD $12.90) were already pretty good. Crisp crunchy baked tortilla nacho chips are covered with creamy sour cream, chunky guacamole, juicy tomato salsa, gooey melted cheddar cheese, stringy mozzarella cheese, and bright jalapeno peppers. Each bite gets you a complex burst of vegetal sour sweet savoury salty spicy cheesy flavours. Among the better versions I've had.

The Carpaccio Of Salmon Salad (SGD $14.90) features medium thick slices of tender Norwegian smoked salmon fish, garnished with crunchy wild rocket leaves / arugula, crisp red radish, creamy smooth dill infused sour cream, home made garlic dressing, lemon juice, and pickled red and green chili. Bold punchy flavours of tangy zesty earthy savoury sweet salty bitter herbal smoky, yet it all works together beautifully. So refreshing, great appetizer to open the palate.

The Roasted Chicken Balado Pasta (SGD $18.90) has a generous portion of soft spaghetti pasta noodles (you can opt for al-dente), plated with tender earthy shimeji mushrooms, crunchy grainy haricot beans, and a roasted marinated boneless chicken thigh that is tender, juicy, and savoury salty sweet in flavour. The dish is completed with a bright Indonesian sambal chili, which has sharp tangy sour spicy flavour, and a short lingering burn. Bold flavours, somewhat oily, but completely delicious and addictive. Good!

The Soft Shell Crab Arrabiata (SGD $18.90) has soft fettuccine pasta noodles, tossed in a bright basil and tomato sauce, livened with bird's eye chili, giving it a refreshing vegetal sweet herbal spicy flavour. The crisp deep-fried soft shell crab has a light crunch to texture, with a bold savoury salty flavour. Nice, but the overall dish is heavy on carbs.

The Herb-Crusted Salmon (SGD $25.90) features a good sized fillet of salmon fish, tender and flaky with a moist texture, coated in a herb infused bread crumb crust, lending a light crunch. Nicely savoury salty, with crisp skin. Suppose to pair with the creamy mango sauce, but I find the fruity sweet flavours of the sauce doesn't pair that well with the salmon fish. Accompanied by a nice medley of grilled vegetables, including haricots, white onions, carrots, and potatoes, all beautifully tender and vegetal sweet salty in flavour. Good!

The Sea Bass Veracruz (SGD $28.70) is an example of good execution, slightly let down by mediocre ingredients. A tender, moist fillet of sea bass fish is lightly grilled, and topped with a tasty veracruz sauce of red bell peppers / capsicum, grilled white onions, capers, green olives, black olives, and shimeji mushrooms. The fish is clearly a few days old, with a muted sweet savoury smoky flavour, but the veracruz sauce is properly bold, with sharp earthy sour sweet notes. Served with a creamy grainy green pea puree that is vegetal sweet in flavour; thick crunchy firm stalks of grilled asparagus that have smoky vegetal sweet savoury flavours; and a crunchy potato radish rosti crisp in a creamy mild horseradish aioli. This would be worthy of fine dining in terms of execution and presentation, they just need to get fresh premium ingredients (especially the fish) to do this justice. Still, tasty enough, I'd order this again.

Feel conflicted about the Panggang Chicken Leg (SGD $22.90), because it lacks that signature smoky aroma I associate with this dish. But overall, it's still tasty. A large, moist and tender chicken leg is marinated and roasted, having a nice savoury sweet spice flavour. Served over creamy smooth mashed potatoes, which hold good starchy salty flavour. On the side, crunchy pickled onions and juicy grilled pineapple rings lend a sharp burst of sour sweet flavour. However, this was let down by whole cardamom spices within, which lend an unpleasant sharp spice note when bit... wish they removed it before serving. Completed with a cool yoghurt mint sauce, although the dish is tasty enough even without this.

The Brazen Beef Striploin (SGD $34.90) was nice. The star is the thick cut of 230g beef striploin steak, grilled to your choice of doneness (I got medium rare). The beef has a tender juicy texture, slicing through easily, with a bold meaty savoury fatty flavour on the palate. Nice, has a satisfying light chew. Served with fresh crunchy mesclun salad (wild rocket leaves / arugula, cherry tomatoes, chervil, red radish) dressed in a balsamic vinaigrette, with good vegetal earthy bitter sweet sour flavour. The base of creamy smooth garlic mashed potato was light on flavour, tasting like the instant version. To help, I suggest pairing this with the truffle beef jus, which lends a delicious bold earthy savoury salty flavour that makes the mashed potato passably tasty. Good!

The Affogato (SGD $8.90) here is positioned as a dessert, not a beverage. You get 2 medium sized scoops of rich, creamy smooth, premium vanilla ice cream, doused with a stiff, strong shot of house blend espresso coffee. Lovely smoky toasty floral sweet bitter flavours. I feel that a double shot may be more balanced for this, but it's still pretty good as is.
