Established in December 2015, and strategically located at the entrance of the Seongsan Ilchulbong park with crowds of tourists and locals, the GreenRoof Jeju (꽃담수제버거) is a picturesque restaurant in a cozy cottage serving hearty burgers. With a name that aptly translates to 'Flowering Burger', the GreenRoof Jeju is a great watering hole for a visit.

Ambience at GreenRoof Jeju is natural and cozy. With its unmistakable grass roof, cobblestone walls, and greenery lined surroundings, the warmly lit place is an oasis of tranquillity away from the crowds. The sturdy wooden and metal furnishings are decently comfortable, and they even offer a small reading area, although the books stocked here are all in Korean.

Service at GreenRoof Jeju is friendly, though largely self-service, with ordering, payment, collection, and clearing up, all done over the counter. I see diners take the effort to clean up properly, so we did likewise. The place doesn't have many staff, but they work quickly to fulfil orders. The menu has helpful Korean and English words, so ordering is easy.

Food at GreenRoof Jeju is comprised of American and Korean cuisines, focused on burgers and light bites. Ingredients are fresh, and dishes are well-executed. They also offer a good range of beverages, including local craft beers. Portions are large and hearty for individuals. Prices are comparable to other cafes, budget about KRW ₩21,000 / SGD $21 per person.

The Heugin Dwaeji Saeu Beogeo / Black Pork & Shrimp Burger (KRW ₩18,900) is a hefty meal, which we ended up sharing. Between soft fluffy buttered burger buns with bready sweet flavour, sits a perfectly grilled 160 gram minced black pork patty which is tender and juicy with smoky meaty savoury salty sweet flavour, and a crunchy juicy shrimp patty with sweet savoury flavour. Lashings of wispy white onions, soft and vegetal sweet in flavour, are stacked on top. Leaves of crisp lettuce and juicy tomato lend vegetal sweet flavour. A layer of gooey cheddar cheese with salty cheesy milky flavour, and some juicy pickled jalapeno peppers with sharp sour spicy flavour complete. Piping hot crinkle-cut potato fries with starchy salty savoury flavour, round out this delicious yet messy treat. Highly recommended!

Love the Sunsal Chikin / Boneless Chicken Tenders (KRW ₩18,000), which has chunky boneless pieces of chicken tenders. Crunch through the thin golden brown crust, and you get the tender juicy chicken meat, carrying lovely meaty savoury salty spice sweet flavour. Highly recommended!
