Overlooking the picturesque Jungmun Beach, The Cliff (더클리프카페) is a modern gastrobar and beach club for the young and trendy. Expect this instagrammable place to be packed especially during sunset, when the gorgeous views surrounding The Cliff are awash in nature's warm and cool colours.
Ambience at The Cliff is styled like a tropical tiki bar and beach club. Step past the glitter and sequin decorated entrance, and you'll be greeted by a spacious indoor area lit by colourful neon signages, arrayed with metal and wooden furnishings of regular and standing height. At a corner are electronic dart boards, and further in, a jazzy lounge with dance pole and shimmering disco ball. At the semi-sheltered al-fresco outdoor area are plush cushioned beach chairs and decorative surfboards, with a broadwalk along the cliff's edge and clear views of the beach.
Service at The Cliff is largely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter. Some of the young staff are able to converse in English, and the menu has items listed in both Korean and English. That said, some pictures would be more helpful. Don't expect much interaction though, with product knowledge limited to the more senior staff. I also note that cleaning up is done leisurely. For the older folks, the music plays a little too loud - the volume induces people to lean in close to converse.
Food at The Cliff is Modern Korean fusion cuisine, drawing on American, British, and Italian influences. They offer an extensive variety of expensive drinks, with picture-worthy cocktails. Food options are limited but delicious and affordably priced, outnumbered nearly 3:1 by the variety of drinks. Dishes are large and hearty in portion, and can be shared. Prices are high, as befits a gastrobar with trendy vibes and scenic ambience, budget about KRW ₩40,000 / SGD $40 per person.

The house signature and possible the most photographed beverage here, the Cocktail Seakdal Beach (KRW ₩17,000) is a colourful blend with distinct rings of syrup. Incredibly overpowering fruity sweet flavour, cloying and hard to finish... but super pretty to look at. Take a photo and leave it aside.

The Cocktail Violet (KRW ₩16,000) is infused with lychee juice, lending it a lovely fruity sweet flavour. Nice vibrant hue too.

Despite multiple attempts in Korean and English, we still couldn't figure out what blend makes the Cocktail Ping Pong (KRW ₩16,000). Or why it's so named. Another super fruity sweet beverage, too much.

Felt the Black Pork & Anchovy Spaghetti (KRW ₩22,000) was among the best dishes we ate during this 2023 trip to Jeju & Seogwipo, South Korea. A representative Korean Italian fusion dish, with slippery smooth al-dente spaghetti pasta noodles slick in aglio olio style (olive oil, garlic, red chili), dressed with myeolchi-jeot / salted anchovy sauce, resulting in a unique earthy fishy salty savoury spice herbal flavour. Garnished with tender cuts of grilled black pork belly with smoky meaty savoury salty flavour, fresh crisp rocket leaves / arugula with vegetal bitter herbal sweet flavour, and crunchy fried garlic chips with savoury spice flavour. Completed with shavings of parmesan cheese, lending a cheesy salty savoury note. So addictive, I wished for more. Highly recommended!

Living up to its name, the Long Sausage & Truffle Oil Fries (KRW ₩26,000) has 3 pork sausages that are long, snappy, and juicy, with smoky meaty savoury salty flavour. Accompanied with crisp shoestring potato fries perfumed with truffle oil carrying starchy earthy salty savoury flavour, and juicy cherry tomatoes with vegetal sweet notes. On the side sits a bowl of fresh crunchy coleslaw (cabbage, carrots, corn kernels, mayonnaise), with vegetal sour sweet flavour. A good sharing plate. Good!
