Founded by award-winning South Korean barista Seo Yudong, his namesake Youdong Coffee (유동커피) cafe is well regarded for its skillful brews and delicious bakes. Expect a constant stream of people flowing through Youdong Coffee in the mornings, as well as around mid-day tea.
Ambience at Youdong Coffee is hipster retro industrial. The dimly lit place is adorned with all manner of memorabilia, including caricatures of the founder and his many awards... even up to the ceiling. Furnishings are closely packed and semi-comfortable, not meant for lingering meals, as most people grab and go.
Service at Youdong Coffee is polite, with staff able to communicate in Korean and some English. Menus are clear but without pictures, though the display case of freshly baked pastries draw the eye. Staff clean up quickly, and also work smoothly to fulfil orders. Ordering, payment, and collection is self-service over the counter.
Food at Youdong Coffee is Modern Korean, focused on beverages and pastries. The range of beverages is extensive, with a smattering of unique brews. Pastries are freshly baked during the day. Portions are sized for individuals. Prices are reasonable and affordable, budget about KRW ₩8,000 / SGD $8 per person.

The Caffè Latte (KRW ₩4,500) is smooth and strong, with just a touch of acidity, and toasty earthy flavour. Pretty latte art too. Good!

We ordered the Mugwort Latte (KRW ₩5,000) as a caffeine-free version, with mugwort powder blended into warm milk. The result is a creamy thick brew with striking earthy herbal milky sweet bitter flavour, interesting. Worth ordering!

The Tiramisu Caffè Latte (KRW ₩5,000) is like a dessert in beverage form, with a base of espresso coffee topped with a creamy head of whisked cream, white sugar, and mascarpone cheese, dressed with cocoa powder. Mix everything together, and you get the familiar chocolatey sweet milky flavour of the dessert, yum. Rather rich too. Good!

The Sammaebong Pie (KRW ₩4,800) is an interesting pastry named after Sammaebong Peak. It has a crisp flaky fragile puff pastry, filled with sticky thick caramel and speculoos paste, topped with more of the same, and finished with white sugar crystals. Has a satisfying crunch, with rich earthy sweet spice biscuity flavour. Highly recommended!

The Maple Croffle (KRW ₩3,900) has a bready soft firm texture, tearing apart easily. The drizzle of maple syrup over infuses a lovely floral honeyed sweet flavour, complementing the natural bready sweet savoury flavour of the croffle. Good!
