EC House, or Express Cut House, was among the earliest hair salons to popularize the concept of quick, cheap, no frills haircuts. While technically a unisex salon, the nature of the concept means EC House attracts more men than women.

EC House utilizes the self-serve kiosk, and each haircut costs SGD $10. They only provide hair cutting services, which means no washing or hair colouring services. Fortunately, staff are quite up-to-date on the latest in hair trends and fashion, and can provide you a suitable hair cut upon request.

Another aspect that helped EC House become popular is their air wash. By blowing away any stray hair, customers can leave feeling clean. However, I find this not thorough enough, and there usually are some stubborn hairs still stuck to my clothing or skin.

Because they promise to complete your haircut in 10 minutes, EC House also attracts the busy, working professionals, who can squeeze in a haircut during lunch hours. However, expect to queue between 10 to 20 minutes during busy periods.

Personally though, I wouldn't visit EC House unless I wanted a simple, fast haircut in a hurry. If not, I'd rather go to a salon.
