Black Hammer is a mid-range footwear company that sells formal and casual shoes for both men and women. Besides operating their own retail outlets, the Black Hammer brand is also sold in most major departmental stores in Singapore. Thus, locating a store that carries this brand is actually quite convenient.

Black Hammer is the brand of footwear that I used years ago when I first started working. When looking for formal business shoes, I usually go for looks, comfort, lifespan and price, in that order. The Black Hammer brand isn't particularly well-known, but I stumbled across it in the departmental store.

What I like about Black Hammer is their modern look. Designs are updated on a quarterly basis (3 - 4 times a year), to keep up with current fashion trends. Older designs are gradually phased out over 1 year or so. The formal business shoes for men are quite smart and sharp looking. However, their range and catalogue generally isn't very extensive, and I dislike their sandal designs.

Comfort for Black Hammer shoes is somewhat average. While there is sufficient cushioning in their footwear, I've yet to see them advertise comfort as a benefit, or even technology that increases comfort. In terms of comfort, other brands of shoes may be better.

The average lifespan for Black Hammer formal business shoes for men is about 4 - 8 months, and casual shoes is about 6 - 12 months. This is dependent on how much walking you do. Generally, I tend to find that the first part of a Black Hammer shoe to wear off is their heels, followed by the sole.

Black Hammer shoes are relatively afforable. For men, formal business shoes cost about SGD $60 - $140, while casual shoes cost about SGD $40 - $120. Taking into account both the price and lifespan, I feel that Black Hammer shoes for men are quite a good deal.
