Bakes And Crafts is an artisinal confectionery online store that also hosts a pop-up shop at various events. Started in July 2014 by Ms. Crystal Cheng with her partner Mr. Zi Yao, Bakes And Crafts promises hand made, great tasting confectionery desserts.

As Bakes And Crafts is an online store, they don't have much ambience or service. However, Bakes And Crafts takeaway pop-up stores always have a clear, legible menu that states what's on offer, and you can often see them preparing / baking the products! Staff are friendly and can provide simple descriptions of what's available, though their popularity often means long queues for takeaway during peak periods.

Bakes And Crafts specialises in tasty cakes, macarons, cupcakes, donuts, and churros. In particular, their cakes in a jar, and pop-up cakes on a stick, are pretty and colourful, while their macarons are often designed to resemble cute cartoon characters. Great for kids! Their donuts and churros are offered with different flavours. Taste of Bakes And Crafts food is pretty good, and their desserts are not too sweet. Portions are usually designed for 1 person, and prices are affordable, budget about SGD $5 per person for 1 dessert confectionery.

From now till 16 July 2015, Bakes And Crafts has a pop-up store at the Geylang Serai Ramadan bazaar / night market / pasar malam, next to Paya Lebar MRT station. Open daily from 4pm till Midnight, Bakes And Crafts will be retailing their famous churros at this location!





Their pop-up store selling Churros is in the middle of the bazaar, a straight walk down from the bus stop that is opposite the open space carpark.

The Pandan Churros With Gula Melaka Dip (SGD $4.50) features fragrant pandan infused churros, with a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. The pandan / screwpine leaf flavour floats through with each bite, and the thin, but yummy, gula melaka / palm sugar syrup dip lends a floral sweetness. Good!

The Original Churros With Cinnamon Sugar (SGD $4.20) has a nice crunch from the cinnamon sugar crystals, which hold well to the crisp outside, soft inside churros. Taste is pretty good, I like that the choux dough pastry has a nice chew, but tears away easily.

Personally, I didn't quite like the texture of the Red Velvet Churros With Dulce De Luche Caramel Dip (SGD $4.50), because I prefer something with red velvet to be more moist. But it actually has the same texture as the rest of their crisp outside, soft inside churros, which is good. The thin caramel syrup dip lends good flavour, with a nice toffee sweetness, but tends to overpower the natural taste of the churros due to its strength.
