Established in December 2016, Kopi & Tarts is a casual eatery serving halal-certified snacks and quick bites. Operated by Mayson Bakery, the freshly baked egg tarts and savoury puffs at Kopi & Tarts are generally consistent in quality, being decently tasty.

Ambience at Kopi & Tarts is casual, modern, and functional. The brightly lit place is neatly lined with functional furnishings that provide a bare minimum of comfort. Understandable, as they're mostly a grab-and-go takeaway sort of place. You'll rarely see people spending more than 20 minutes here.

Service at Kopi & Tarts is completely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter. Staff are brusque, and work quickly. Almost no product knowledge needs be displayed, though I note they show signs of slight impatience if you hold up the queue. They're relatively slow at cleaning up when diners leave.

Food at Kopi & Tarts mostly consist of Asian egg tarts and savoury puff pastries. Think Chinese Hong Kong style. They're halal-certified, with quality and taste being consistently decent. Portions are sized for individuals. Prices are similar to other snack joints, budget about SGD $4 per person for a snack here.

The Kopi Siu Dai (SGD $1.80), or coffee with less sugar, isn't as strong as I'd like.

Straightforward Teh O Siu Dai (SGD $1.60), served hot with less sugar. Has a deep earthy flavour from the brewed black tea.

Their Tuna Puff (SGD $3) has a crisp, light, flaky buttery pastry crust. Within, there's a thin layer of savoury tuna chunks, with a slight bite to texture. Not bad, certainly better than most heartland neighbourhood bakery renditions.

Surprised by the Chicken Mushroom Puff (SGD $2.60), it was better than I expected. Within the crisp, light, flaky buttery pastry crust are chunks of savoury peppery chicken, chunky potato, and tender shiitake mushrooms with an earthy savoury flavour. The filling is nicely balanced, not too much potato, not too much cream. Love the sharp spicy kick of the black pepper.

The Egg Tart Original (SGD $2) has a crumbly, buttery, pastry tart crust, which breaks gently when bit. The filling of wobbly soft egg custard is silky smooth, with a delicate eggy milky sweet flavour. Good!

The Egg Tart Blueberry (SGD $2.20) takes the goodness of the original tart, and adds a filling of sticky, fruity sweet blueberry sauce.

The Egg Tart Nacho Cheese (SGD $2.20) has a filling of nacho cheese sauce, which gives this a prominent savoury salty cheesy flavour.

The Apple Crumble Tart (SGD $3) has the same crumbly, buttery, pastry tart crust, but this is coated with grainy crumbs that have a delicate sweet flavour. Within, tender chunks of caramelised apples burst with a juicy soft texture and bold fruity sweet flavour.
