Originating from Taichung, Taiwan, where it was established in November 2017, Tiger Sugar has regularly drawn snaking queues, establishing a hype for its signature brown sugar bubble milk tea beverages, and spanning numerous imitators. Expanding aggressively into Singapore since November 2018, Tiger Sugar is so named because their beverages have visually appealing 'tiger stripes' from the ingredients.

Ambience at Tiger Sugar is casual industrial. With warm spot lights, grey stone walls, and wooden counters, you'll usually spot a queue at their outlets, with people crowding around outside. Waiting time is shorter than it used to be these days, averaging about 15 minutes or less. There is no seating here, it's completely takeaway.

Service at Tiger Sugar is efficient and methodical. Completely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter. Staff work in assembly line fashion; each beverage only takes about 1 minute to make, but passes through the hands of 6 staff, each of whom is responsible for only 1 function to make the drink.

Food at Tiger Sugar is focused on the iconic Taiwanese beverage of bubble tea, specifically, the brown sugar bubble milk tea drink. Sized in individual portions, each cup contains a precise amount of ingredients, thus you cannot customise the size, sugar level, or toppings like elsewhere. No 2 cups look alike, as the 'tiger strips' are unique. Prices are reasonable, budget about SGD $6 per person.

The Brown Sugar Boba Milk With Cream Mousse (SGD $5.30) is the signature beverage of choice here. This drink features a layer of dark brown sugar syrup, followed by large boba tapioca balls, mini boba tapioca pearls, ice cubes, fresh milk, and a milk cream mousse. The dark brown sugar syrup contrasts with the pale milk and cream mousse in the cup to form the picture-worthy 'tiger strips', but these dissolve quickly (in about 1 minute). Shake it 15 times before drinking. It has a rich, creamy thick smooth texture, with a light sticky chew from the ingredients. The flavour is layered but balanced, with floral earthy milky sweet salty notes, yum. Highly recommended!
