Day 1 night, we headed out for a late dinner / supper after linking up with friends. Looking at spots which opened late, we settled on Ramal Junction Food Court primarily because of the famed Willy Satay - arriving only to find it closed ahead of an upcoming public holiday, as they'd decided to take additional days off. With plans in disarray, we settled for whatever was available at Ramal Junction Food Court.

Observing orders from other surrounding tables, we realised that many diners at Ramal Junction Food Court seemed to gravitate to Alif Western Food, and their Chicken Chop Wanted (MYR RM16). It was a good choice; the large bone-in chicken chop is breaded and deep-fried, then covered in a generous glaze of thick black pepper sauce, topped with a sunny side up egg. With a tender moist texture, and big meaty savoury salty peppery spice eggy sweet flavour, the combination of chicken chop and egg was delicious, with a good kick of spice. Served with crunchy chilled colesaw with vegetal milky sweet notes, and crisp shoestring potato fries with salty starchy sweet flavour. Good!

We still wanted satay, and spotted Sate Yus Kajang nearby, in the adjacent street. It seemed rather popular, and a quick online search yielded positive feedback, so we decided to grab our main meal at Sate Yus Kajang. The place is brightly lit and clean, with clear prices, and a semi-open kitchen where you can observe staff expertly grilling skewers of meat.

No meal of satay is complete without complimentary Cucumbers & Red Onions. The crunchy juicy cucumbers relieve the palate with vegetal sweet flavour, while the crisp red onions contrast with sharp vegetal sour sweet spice flavour. Good!

The Satay Beef (MYR RM1.60 per stick, RM16 for 10 sticks) is nicely grilled, with a decent meaty bite. The beef satay has a firm chewy texture, with a smoky meaty savoury salty flavour. Worth ordering!

The Satay Chicken (MYR RM1.50 per stick, RM15 for 10 sticks) is tasty but slightly on the lean side. The chicken satay has a nice tender texture, with smoky meaty sweet savoury flavour, perhaps a tad more sweet than elsewhere. Good!

The Satay Fish Mackeral (MYR RM1.50 per stick, RM15 for 10 sticks) was a surprise, this being the 1st time I've ever eaten a fish satay. It has a soft moist texture, with smoky sweet savoury spice flavour, I enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

The Satay Mutton (MYR RM2.50 per stick, RM25 for 10 sticks) was the unanimous favourite. The mutton satay is juicy and tender in texture, with a satisfying smoky meaty savoury sweet salty flavour, so addictive we kept reaching for more. Highly recommended!

The Satay Beef Tripe (MYR RM1.80 per stick, RM18 for 10 sticks) features pieces of beef tripe stomach, perfectly grilled. This beef tripe stomach satay has a crunchy slippery texture, with lovely smoky sweet earthy savoury flavour, yum. Good!

Rounded off Day 1 night, and no meal of satay is complete without complimentary Peanut Gravy. Their rendition of peanut gravy here is medium chunky, with small bits of crushed peanuts within the medium thick gravy. Has a decent savoury salty nutty sweet flavour, tasty but not outstanding. Good!

Day 2 morning, we sought out Ten Hup Chee Cheong Fun which is located near the Pasar Kajang / Kajang Market, in the heart of the city. A tiny, hole-in-the-wall casual eatery now operated by the 3rd generation, Ten Hup Chee Cheong Fun is renowned for specialising in Hong Kong style chee cheong fun and wanton noodles.

The Wanton Noodles (MYR RM7) here ranks among the best I've ever eaten. Served in the classic dark soy sauce with sweet savoury salty flavour, the wanton noodles features a base of springy chewy yellow egg noodles, which picks up the gravy beautifully. The fresh crunchy chye sim / choy sum / Chinese flowering cabbage has bright vegetal sweet flavour, while the medium thick char siew / marinated roast pork loin with silvers of fat is tender and meaty with a good smoky savoury sweet salty flavour. In fact, their char siew / marinated roast pork loin ranks among the best I've had in a wanton noodles dish, immediately visually enticing. The wanton pork dumplings have a decent filling of juicy minced pork and deshelled shrimp, with a bright meaty sweet salty flavour that bursts in the mouth. Completed with a warm comforting soup / broth with light sweet savoury flavour. Highly recommended!

The house signature Chee Cheong Fun (MYR RM8) is available in small and large versions, we ordered the large to share. The silky smooth sheets of rice noodle rolls are thin, yet hold together nicely the generous fillings of tender minced pork and juicy diced deshelled fresh shrimp. Garnished with crisp fried shallots and served in a gravy of soy sauce and sesame oil, the chee cheong fun has bright savoury sweet salty nutty earthy grainy flavours, utterly delicious. So good we craved more. A yummy end to Day 2 morning. Highly recommended!
