Description:
Gado Gado originated from Indonesia, and is a type of salad that is a one-dish complete meal. Gado Gado consists of mainly boiled vegetables, along with other ingredients, well covered in a thick, mildly spicy peanut gravy / sauce and garnished with crackers.

The boiled vegetables that go into Gado Gado can be of any variety, but some of the more commonly used vegetables include cabbage, bean sprouts, water spinach leaves (Kang Kong), long beans / string beans, cucumber and jackfruit.

Besides vegetables, Gado Gado will also include other ingredients like boiled potatoes / boiled compressed rice cakes (Ketupat), a hard boiled egg, chinese firm dry tofu and fried soy bean patty (Tempeh).

The thick, mildly spicy peanut gravy / sauce for Gado Gado is made with ground peanuts / ground cashew nuts, coconut sugar / brown sugar, garlic, water, coconut milk, chili, onions, shrimp paste (Belacan), tamarind paste, lime juice and fried shallots.

There are a few types of crackers used to garnish Gado Gado. Common types include prawn keropok, tapioca keropok or emping.

Gado Gado is normally consumed during breakfast, or as a light snack.

.....

Gado Gado is very uncommon in Singapore, and very few stalls sell this. Even for those stalls that do sell this dish, many eventually drop it from their menu.

These are the top 3 stalls which I feel serve the best Gado Gado in Singapore.
