The out-of-the-way location of Loysel's Toy is part of the appeal of the place, as it's relatively quieter than most other cafes. Named in homage after the father of the commercial coffee machine, Edward Loysel De Santais, Loysel's Toy lives up to their name by producing some of the best cups of coffee in Singapore.

Ambience at Loysel's Toy is laid back, and quiet. Located beside the relatively peaceful Kallang River Park, Loysel's Toy plays off the natural surroundings with wooden furniture, simple maritime signboards, and clean lines. Great place for a slow meal.

Service at Loysel's Toy is decent. Orders at taken at the counter, although your food is served to you. Staff are young, mostly students working part-time, and the service reflects this. Don't expect much conversation, or product knowledge.

Food at Loysel's Toy is generally decent. Not as tasty or as value-for-money as other places though. The menu at Loysel's Toy focuses on brunch items, as well as pastries. I find the pastries here to be of better quality than most of their main brunch dishes.

However, the coffee at Loysel's Toy is great. Supplied by the famed Papa Palheta, the quality and taste of the coffee is rich. The skill of the baristas is also evident in the intricate Latte Art they produce.

The Breakfast Pancakes is a hearty dish of 2 fluffy pancakes, maple syrup, butter, 2 chicken sausages, scrambled eggs, with an order of smoked salmon. The eggs were nicely cooked but slightly bland, a little more seasoning or herbs would have lifted it. The pancakes were decent in taste, but I thought the size was too thick.
