Umi Sushi has positioned itself as a quick, casual place for you can get a decent Japanese meal at affordable / cheap prices. This however, does mean that quality of food and ingredients tend to suffer slightly.

Ambience at Umi Sushi is clean, with minimal decor and bright lighting. However, the majority of their outlets are very cramped, with a small floor space and barely any elbow room between tables. This is definitely not a place for dining if you're looking for ambience. Many people choose to order take away instead of dining in.

Service is good at Umi Sushi, and food is prepared and served very quickly. Staff are polite and are able to accomodate minor requests.

Food at Umi Sushi is largely Japanese inspired. Items are simple, of decent / average quality and taste, and light on the wallet. Popular items include their variety of Bento boxes and Sushi.

Umi Sushi also provides catering, and is suitable for those on a budget. There is a bit more flexibility in the choice of items for catering, and staff will allows you to swap items at no extra charge. I found their catering service to be pleasant, efficient, and I will order from them again.

Their Bento boxes all come with steamed rice topped with sesame seeds and teriyaki sauce, cauliflower, broccoli, mashed potato, lettuce and seasoned seaweed / chuka wakame. When ordering catering, they allow you to swap for boiled corn or boiled soybeans in the pod / edamame. The Sake Salmon Teriyaki Bento features a decent size piece of salmon, which is rather fresh. The Yakiniku Beef Bento features slices of seasoned beef cooked with onions.

The Chawanmushi is rather light and somewhat bland, though the soft eggy texture is nice. The Green Tea is rather standard as well.
