Tex-Mex cuisine is a type of fusion cuisine, a combination of Texas style cooking and Mexican style cooking. Monterey's Little Mexico is a franchise chain that exemplifies this type of food, and features homely ambience and decent service.

Ambience at Monterey's Little Mexico is rustic and comfortable, with Mexican home style decor that is simple and unobstrusive. The main pillars within the restaurant are designed to look like elegant curved stone arches, which breaks up the monotony of the place. Layout is spacious, as is the functional furniture.

Service at Monterey's Little Mexico is friendly and personal. As with most restaurants, a specific server is assigned to each table, and your tip goes to them. Staff are friendly and knowledgable about the menu, and food is served pretty quickly. They also come round to check if your meal is going well.

Food at Monterey's Little Mexico is pure Tex-Mex. Portions are decent, and prices are relatively affordable. Dishes are quite tasty, though there is a tendency to over-season some dishes with salt, especially those that have grilled meats. But I love the fresh tomato salsa and guacamole!

The place has bright lighting, spacious layout and comfortable furniture. Can get rather noisy due to the enclosed area, sounds get trapped within.

The excellent Chili Con Queso Beef is lovely as an appetizer, and not too filling. Also goes great with other dishes as a dip, or as a sauce.

The Fajita Beef Chimichanga With Seasoned Rice, Refried Beans And Guacamole is pretty good. The grilled fajita beef is savoury and tasty without being too dry, and stuffed generously into the tortilla wrap of the Chimichanga. It's not too oily, and has just enough cheese on it. The Refried Beans And Guacamole were very good, but the Seasoned Rice was a little weak.

The classic Margarita is upsized here, though the level of alcohol seems lower as compared to other places.

Margarita

The complimentary Nachos decent, but not the best I've had. It's served along with an excellent Tomato Salsa, a decent sour cream, and fresh or pickled Jalapenos. You can also request for Guacamole.
