Located in the upmarket Powai district in Mumbai, Zitar is a modern and trendy restaurant and bar, that has been gathering awards and praise for both its food and its style. Named after a classic Indian musical string instrument, Zitar offers not only good food, but drinks and music as well.

Ambience at Zitar differs depending on which part of the establishment you're in. A section is laid out as a typical fine dining restaurant, with fine cutlery, clean lines, evenly spaced furniture and contemporary decor. The other section of Zitar is designed as a relaxing lounge with a bar, with minimal decor, controlled lighting, and a small stage for live performances. The bar counter, called The Bathtub, is centrally placed and attractive to look at.

I find the service at Zitar to be good, as staff are professional and efficient. You can request for food to be portioned out tableside, and staff will ask for feedback on your experience. However, I've noticed that service tends to be more attentive if your dining party has at least one attractive person.

Prices at Zitar is affordable for a restaurant. Cuisine is contemporary Indian, inspired by dishes all over the country, taking classic flavours and presenting them in a modern way. Food is generally flavourful, and the menu is quite extensive. Zitar also offers a dine-in buffet option, and a delivery service as well.
