Mutton Chop, Spiced Mutton Chop

Average Price Per Serving:
SGD $4 - $6

Description:
Mutton Chop is a dish originating from the Singapore Indian community. Mutton Chop is a fusion dish, combining western style food with indian / malay style cooking and spices.

Mutton Chop consists of cubes of mutton cooked in indian spices, served together with sliced cucumber, sliced tomatoes, english chips / french fries and a fried sunny side up egg.

The red sauce for Mutton Chop is prepared with ginger, garlic, onions, dried chili, tomato sauce (Ketchup), cinnamon sticks, cardamom, star anise and beef stock.

Sometimes, red food colouring, potato puree, eggs or shallots are included. Then, the cubes of mutton are braised in the sauce till tender.

Eating Mutton Chop is slightly messy, and the sauce stains clothing easily, so avoid wearing white. Or just eat more carefully.

.....

The sauce used in Mutton Chop is almost similar to the sauce used for Soup Tulang (Sup Tulang).

These are the top 3 stalls which I feel serve the best Mutton Chop in Singapore.
